May 2008 Net Worth – $87,264.27

May 2008 Net Worth

After having our largest net worth increase ever last month, we followed it up this month with our 2nd largest ever net worth increase, beating the previous record by just a few dollars. Two strong months in a row like that let me know we are doing something right.

We hit a couple of minor milestones this month as my 401k crossed $20k and my Roth IRA crossed $30k. Our entire net worth 1 year ago was only a little over $50k, so it’s kind of cool to have that in just two accounts today.

The large gain in the my Roth IRA was due to a $3,000 deposit. I had wanted to buy a new fund that required a minimum deposit of $3,000, which I was able to make this month.

I am feeling a lot better about the odds of achieving the goals we set at the beginning of the year. There’s still a long way to go, but we’re looking a lot better than we were after the first couple of months of the year.

    Clint –

Just wanted to let you know that I have been checking your net worth on a monthly basis, as you and I have been in the same ballpark range in terms of net worth since I found your blog…. Just to give you an idea of the comparison…. In May of 2006 I was @ $29,360……… and you were at $32,343………. 2 years later… there is still only a $1,626.30 difference between the two of us. Interestingly, there are months that I will creep way ahead… then you come back… and vice versa..

It actually like a little competition for me.

    Cheers -

    Ed,

That’s awesome. That’s exactly why I started posting my net worth, because I enjoyed comparing it with other people’s. It’s pretty wild that we’ve managed to stay so close. You’ll have to keep me informed on how things play out…..and don’t let me fall too far behind.

    Clint –

I will keep you posted. For your sake and mine, hopefully we will keep creeping up higher and higher together.

Got something to say?
