October 2006 Net Worth Snapshot

October Net Worth

October was another good month similar to September with a 6% increase in net worth. We crossed a new milestone as our net worth passed $40k for the first time!

It has been eight months since we passed the $30k mark back in February, and we also purchased a home in that time. Now it’s on to $50K.

Good going! Nothing like watching that net worth build month to month. One thing I’ve noticed, though, is that you don’t have much cash in savings (i.e. if you had shell out a couple thousand for a car payment on Monday).

I’m in much the same boat, I’ve maxed out both my wife and I’d Roth IRA’s, contribute to the company 401K, but our cushion is fairly thin.

Great blog, I’ll check back frequently!

      Grant,
I’m not a big fan of a large emergency fund. I prefer to have any extra cash invested. We do have other options for emergencies like credit cards, Roth IRA principle, etc. While we obviously don’t want to tap into those things, we could if there was an emergency. That being said, we are in the process of increasing the cash in our Emigrant Direct savings account.

    Got something to say?
