July 2007 Net Worth Snapshot

July 2007 Net Worth

What would have been a pretty disappointing month was saved by my 401k. It was the only asset that had any significant gains, and without it, it looks like my net worth would have suffered about a $2 drop for the month. The large increase in the 401k was due to my employer match being deposited this month.

My Roth IRA balance decreased for the second month in a row, and for the 3rd time in 2007. In all the previous years of 2004, 2005, and 2006 there was only one single month in which the the balance decreased.

We were, however, able to cross the $60k milestone this month! In the numbers below, which show the dates of my previous milestones, you can see that it is taking less and less time to hit each new milestone. But, I can’t realistically see it happening much quicker than the 4-5 month periods anytime too soon.

July ‘07 – $60k (4 months)
March ‘07 – $50k (5 months)
October ‘06 – $4ok (8 months)
February ‘06 – $30k (11 months)
March ‘05 – $20k

The struggling market limited my gains this month, but I am hoping for better things in August.
